A Bit of Background

Welcome to my web-site, www.chaircaner.com!  I am the seatweaver and my name is Karen Curcio.  My grandfather came to north central Massachusettes in 1920 to teach the art of natural rushing at one of the many chair factories of the times.  I am now the third generation seatweaver of the family, and have been practicing for over 30 years now.  My dad taught me the craft of fibre-rushing, and I have taught myself the other types of weaving I do.

I strive always to work as professionally as is possible, and will do my best to get your project back to you within a reasonable amount of time. As a fibromyalgia sufferer, I sometimes have to take unexpected breaks from working; but resume as soon as I am able.  My goal is to have your "chairloom" back to you within one month's time, except in the case of a lengthier project involving more detailed work.

For faster service, please make sure you have removed the old seating material and made any desired structural repairs before bringing me your chair(s).  I have been known to make some minor repairs from time to time, but I am not in the restoration business...I am a seatweaver!  (and please do not ask, NO, I do not teach!)
